Top Gun United States Navy Insignia Patch
The Indian Ocean Cruise 85-86 patch is a detailed tribute to a very important time in the history of the United States Navy. The top part has the flags of the United States and the United Nations, and the bottom part has the logos of certain squadrons and units. This features the patch for VF-1 “Wolfpack,” a well-known fighter squadron that flew the F-14 Tomcat during this time.
This patch is a chronicle of the people who worked in the Indian Ocean theater in the middle of the 1980s. Its design is a typical example of “cruise patches,” which sailors and pilots wear to show that they have completed a successful mission. It has high-contrast embroidery and symbolic flags, and it is still popular with veterans and collectors of Cold War-era naval memorabilia. It represents the “Ready Power For Peace” mission in a very important part of the world.
